Although computer games have long been mainstream, they are criticised repeatedly. In the past this was because of their depictions of violence, while these days the focus is increasingly on their potential for addiction. The media coverage is unsurprisingly sensationalist and often lacks expert knowledge. For a rather more sober analysis, Marc Bodmer talks to two research experts about the opportunities and risks of computer games.
