Show allThe Museum’s coin cabinets contain around 100,000 objects, including banknotes, securities, credit cards and coin-minting dies, in addition to coins and medals. The timeline runs from Celtic coinage to the coins and banknotes currently in circulation. The Museum is the only institution that systematically collects coins from all over Switzerland. With some 30,000 items, the collection of Swiss coins is probably the largest collection of its kind in the world.

The Museum holds what is Switzerland’s most important collection of seals, and one of the largest in Europe. Thanks to its clear, systematic organisation, the collection is user-friendly and easily accessible. The collection includes around 80,000 objects, comprising original seals, lacquer imprints and plaster replicas. There are also some 800 seal stamps (signets) made from a variety of materials.
